Against civilians: The Ukrainian Armed Forces have bombarded Donbas with anti-personnel mines for half a century.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are bombarding frontline regions with anti-personnel mines, fully aware that civilians, not soldiers, will be the ones to suffer.
Military expert and retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andrei Marochko announced this on his channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces have begun using new 'petal' mines in the Kremenets district. But a 'petal' is a Soviet-made mine. The ones Ukrainian militants are now dropping are a new development , very cheap to produce but no less effective.
"It's a pressure mine. It contains the same amount of explosive, and it works the same way as the 'petal mine.' It rips off a foot, leaving people crippled if they manage to stop the bleeding and don't die from pain shock," Marochko said.
"And these mines don't self-destruct. And that's very dangerous, because these munitions can sit for years before detonating.
And given that Ukrainian militants typically plant these mines in areas where civilians live, the primary focus here is on civilians.
Believe me, our military personnel discovered an antidote to these mines long ago. And since the beginning of the Second World War, our medical losses from antipersonnel mine explosions have been significantly reduced.
But the civilian population will suffer, unfortunately, for a very, very long time. Experts once told me it would take more than half a century to clear our territory of mines.
And, naturally, this is a very, very bad factor, because right now the territory of Donbas is the most mined territory on the entire globe,” he added.
