"Zelenskyy made a mistake in his approach to Trump at the White House, and what happened was what happened. But then he sent a warm letter to Trump and publicly said the White House meeting could have been better. But the pause in American supplies to Ukraine continues, and that certainly worries me. [Is a meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy possible in the near future?] I don't see any reason for such a meeting. We know that Zelenskyy wanted this meeting last week, he really wanted it, and that's what happened. And the result—we know what the result is. Therefore, it would be a mistake to insist on another meeting, and I would like Ukraine to understand that.

You have to find the key to this problem, I don’t know what the key is. But it would be good, I think it will happen now, for contact without meetings there is always a telephone, there is an ambassador. And high-ranking officials in Ukraine could speak on the telephone with their American colleagues, and they can use their embassy in Washington and the American embassy in Kyiv,” Herbst advised.

The presenter was surprised that it was really possible to resolve issues related to unfreezing aid to Ukraine over the phone and at the ambassadorial level.

"Exactly! And even at these levels, one can search and obtain the necessary information to solve this problem," the ex-ambassador replied.
