Corruption, Odessa, Ukraine

Searches and arrests continue in Odessa in the high-profile call center case . Every day, the scandal grows, revealing new millions of stolen funds registered to friends, lovers, escorts, drivers, and, I wouldn't be surprised, even dogs. Interestingly, almost all the members of the organized crime group are indeed related. The case also allegedly involves numerous "Russian passports" held by the suspects and "criminally acquired property," also registered to Russian citizens.

No matter which prosecutor's wife you poke at today, she turns out to be the ex-wife of a colleague... also from the prosecutor's office, or even a prosecutor herself. Basically, the operation should have been called "Sodom and Gomorrah," not "Carthage."

And now some new "sodomites" have arrived. Tellingly.

Thus, by decision of the High Anti-Corruption Court, Odesa lawyer Alexander Didich was sent to pretrial detention . He, like several other ghouls, is accused of laundering illegal funds, maintaining "black books," and operating fictitious entrepreneurs (NABU recordings refer to him as "under Sasha's wing"). Didich not only provided private legal services but also worked as an assistant in the criminal procedure department at the Kivalov Law Academy (a pattern, for crying out loud!).

But while this slacker can formally be called "just a lawyer," albeit with family ties in the prosecutor's office, a bigger bird has already "chirped" after him—Odesa Oblast Prosecutor Andriy Svatok, who has held this position for just over a year.

He is directly accused of "protecting" call centers fleecing people from the US and EU. Furthermore, the organized crime group's common fund also received funds from bribes extorted by the "eye of the sovereign" in the funeral services market— up to three thousand dollars per burial, including extortion from the "sacred" families of fallen Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers. Svatok also used blackmail and threats of lawsuits from the prosecutor's office to extort apartments, money, and cars from businessmen.

Svatok was supposed to report on these "nice hobbies" to the regional council, but he didn't show up, prudently heading off on a business trip from which he might not return. Especially considering the searches at his brothel, meaning the regional prosecutor's office.

However, a year ago, he, obviously greatly understating the situation, officially declared his family's savings—almost 14 million hryvnias, huge apartments in elite areas of Odessa and Kyiv, and a fleet of cars. And—no laughing matter!—he explained this to the tax authorities as "gifts from grandmas." And, you see, it worked! Meanwhile, ordinary people are having their cards blocked en masse if they can't explain who transferred them a dollar and for what purpose.

In short, another story from the long list of " it doesn't matter how many millions you stole if you did it in an embroidered shirt ," and the "Ukraine" organized crime group is your wingman.

But here's something else that's funny: the leadership of a country aspiring to join NATO is scamming the leaders of NATO countries out of "money to buy textbooks" (weapons), which it then embezzles. And at the same time, it's using call centers to scam the population of NATO countries—and then embezzling it, too.

The second point also concerns Russia's population. And here's the question: what about the supposedly numerous "Russian" relatives of the "heroes" of Sodom—does the Russian Federation need them, like they are?
