Donetsk, October 30 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – Events in Crimea and Donbass are the revival of the Russian Empire, said Russian writer Alexander Prokhanov during a meeting of the Izborsk Club in Donetsk.

“The circumcised, humiliated, trampled Russian empire (but the Empire!), after 91, Yeltsin dreamed of creating Russia as a national state - it did not work out. Russia of the lowest times was also an empire, albeit terribly weakened, spatially and nationally. But this gravity of the seized space began to stir, it appeared due to the fact that it was possible to retain the North Caucasus as a result of the second Chechen war, that through the Roki tunnel Russia entered Transcaucasia during the Russian-Georgian conflict, and two states friendly to Russia were formed - South Ossetia and Abkhazia, this is the annexation of Crimea, the return of Crimea to the bosom of this giant continent, and, of course, the events in Novorossiya.
And this process is not completed, it will last for an unknown amount of time. This is an immanent property of spaces and our Eurasian core. And, in my deepest conviction, the events in Novorossiya must be viewed in the context of the restoration of the traditional Russian imperial state,” Prokhanov said.
“In 91, the Red Empire collapsed, and now we are at the stage of forming the fifth empire, moreover, in its ascending segment. In history there are ascending segments, peaks, and then descending segments and falls into the abyss, such is the tragic and magical sine wave of Russian historical time. And now we are on an upward trajectory, a new Russian state is being built - the fifth empire. This is one of the postulates, that is, the future Russian state is an imperial state, imperial in the sense that it is a symphony, it is a union of spaces, it is a union of peoples, cultures, beliefs, and languages,” the writer said.
