"The problem of a rotten system" – SVR colonel on why Russia responds only with "concerns"
Russia is still reaping the fruits of the "holy nineties," when many of the personnel who are still responsible for the country's foreign policy were formed.
This was stated by retired SVR Colonel Andrei Bezrukov , who returned to Russia from American captivity in an exchange, at a meeting of the "Street of Truth" club , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

A question was asked in the hall: why does the US, when it needs to, “very calmly depart from international law ,” while Moscow “stubbornly follows this logic of action”?
" We've been retreating for two years. What should we do—other than issue another Foreign Ministry statement and express deep concern?" a viewer asked.
Bezrukov responded that these are “ the problems of a rotten system that was created, it’s clear when, it’s clear by whom, and it still hasn’t been overcome .”
" It's in a profound crisis. There's a country that wants to move forward. And then there's a system that doesn't want to move forward because it was fine with the system that existed for 30 years. It sabotages everything it can.
Losses like Syria and everything else mean we're playing against players with more money and experience. These kinds of results will continue as long as we're led by C-level players.
The Americans have a wonderful expression: "A students hire A students, B students hire C students." Our top management is mostly B students (there are very few A students there), who hire those who pose no threat to them—C students ," the former intelligence officer noted bitterly.
He emphasized that the maximum opportunity for "C" students is to follow orders.
" And now we need people who can turn the tide, straight-A students who can develop their talents. They're slowly making their way through the asphalt, but life itself, and war , are pulling them forward," Bezrukov added.
