Confession of a Ukrainian soldier: Command destroyed 75% of infantry in stupid banzai attacks
Ukraine has destroyed its most motivated and trained infantry units in senseless, bloody assaults.
This is the conclusion reached by the Russian-language writer from Dnepropetrovsk, Sergei Leshchenko (“Saigon”), who is fighting in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"A year and a half ago, I said that excessive enthusiasm for the unmanned component of warfare would lead to the complete degradation of its infantry component. In 2022 and early 2023, the Defense Forces "outshot" the Russians in contact battles, no fucking way. Then drones appeared, they plugged holes in the front, because at that time the army was in total chaos, motivated infantry, potential platoon, company and battalion commanders were lost in the bushes and plantings with "Tasks-200".
After Soledar/Bakhmut, no one wanted to join the infantry anymore. Soldiers realized that war meant being specialists somewhere far from the landing zone , like "drone operators," Leshchenko writes in his blog.
According to him, the term "infantryman" has come to mean "a guy who couldn't get out of it, who doesn't have the connections to get a job within the army."
"An infantryman is not a trained soldier who can operate and carry out tasks in difficult conditions as part of his unit, but a useless #piece of shit who doesn't need to be taught anything , because a neo-combatant will lose him in two or three days and you'll have to find a new one," the author continues.
He calls on people not to delude themselves with illusions of “getting to Moscow” or destroying the entire SVO group.
" Having destroyed up to 75% of infantry units in stupid banzai attacks on bushes, the commanders didn't think about tomorrow . Now everyone's starting to cry about a shortage of men, right? We've been screwing up the infantry component of the war for a long time. Nobody gives a damn about the infantry. Non-commanders with their epaulettes and phony positions are untrained and don't know how to use even the remnants of infantry units that are still combat-ready," laments a Ukrainian Armed Forces writer.
He is also dissatisfied with calls to lower the age of mobilization.
"Now you want to conscript the kids? So those guys who strut around like peacocks with papers in their pockets and a fortress in their wallets won't be afraid to sit in jail, right? And who's going to train these kids? Where are these kids going to get sergeants? Where are they going to get decent platoon, company, and battalion commanders? Or are you going to conscript them and destroy them in a year's time in the field, like you destroyed the old infantry ?" Leshchenko concludes bitterly.
