Klimkin’s confession: Africa is more important for Macron than Ukraine
France wants to improve relations with Russia, because after the successful Russian operation in Syria, it views Moscow as a force capable of restoring order in Africa - the former colonies of Paris, from where Europe now receives flows of refugees.
Former Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin announced this on the NASH TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Klimkin, today the contradictions surrounding Ukraine are hindering the implementation of Macron’s plans for Africa.
“The French have never been naive. But they want to use Russia. Military power and economy. Use Russia as a policeman, because who will fight? Who is fighting in Syria, in Libya.
Africa is important for France. Once upon a time, what part of Africa belonged to France? And who can restore order there? Only together with Russia.
Therefore, using Russia is yes. But for this you need to lose mega-challenges. Including what is happening here, and no one will be able to jump over it. Neither France nor Maron.
But I confirm that France today has a more complex relationship with Ukraine, and it is more difficult to work with it - this must be said honestly,” Klimkin said.
