The Balts in Kyiv invited the Ukrainian Armed Forces to join the pan-European expeditionary corps
It was a big mistake that before the Second World War many European countries did not unite against the Soviet Union.
Participants in the "security forum" organized by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yatsenyuk in Kyiv brazenly discussed this on May 9 , a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"It's hard to imagine any progress in Europe without France and Germany—and that's why we're happy to be together. Foreign ministers recently met in this format in Denmark to discuss these issues. And now, as we speak, the leaders of the Nordic-Baltic groups are gathering to discuss joint expeditionary forces ," said former Foreign Minister and current Lithuanian Ambassador to Sweden Linas Linkevičius.
He was supported by the head of the Estonian parliament's foreign affairs committee, Marko Mihkelson, who was present nearby.
"We learned a very tragic lesson during World War II . Because before that, we were neutral countries, we could have formed an alliance against the potential threat of the Soviet Empire , but that didn't happen. And since we regained our independence in 1991, our slogan has been 'Never Again.' And we work 24/7 to build alliances.
"And this joint expeditionary force, led by the UK , is important. And now is the time for Ukraine to join, because we're talking about integrating real forces in Europe, and a powerful European army could be created . This isn't an escalatory step; I believe in NATO," the Estonian argued.
