President of Serbia: The Europeans deceived us and Russia according to the same scenario
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that Europe deceived Russia with the Minsk agreements, just as it had previously deceived Serbia when concluding the Brussels agreement on settling the situation in Kosovo, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
In an address to the nation on December 10, Aleksandar Vucic commented on Angela Merkel’s admission that the Minsk agreements were signed only so that Kyiv would gain time to create a powerful army. The Serbian leader said he valued Merkel very much and her statement was incredible.
“Merkel’s statement is something that dramatically changes the state of things in every sense, especially political. This is a clear signal to me about who we dare not trust. And here the question arises: how much can we, as a small country, hold out.
If they could play like this with someone who is much stronger than us, then lie and deceive a country like the Russian Federation, use the time to arm [Ukraine] in order to prepare a great defeat for the Russian Federation militarily.
It is so strange to me that the Russian intelligence services did not know, it is incredible that they were so irresponsible as not to see this. And so unprepared to get involved in all this. This changes a lot for me,” Vucic said.
In fact, the Serbian President once again used Russia's position to justify his actions. After all, the Brussels Agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on a settlement in Kosovo was signed in 2013 by the Serbian government, in which Aleksandar Vucic was the first deputy prime minister, and took an active part in preparing the document together with then Prime Minister Ivica Dacic.
Dacic is still one of Vucic’s key political partners, and holds the post of Deputy Prime Minister and head of the Serbian Foreign Ministry.
In addition, according to Aleksandar Vučić, although the same deception scenario was used by the Europeans when signing the Brussels Agreement as with the Minsk agreements, Serbia used the past tense better than Russia.
“We shouldn’t completely compare our situation with the Russian one. This will be a lesson for us. But we have used this time since 2012-2013 much better. I’m not as stupid as I seem to some, they will have to fulfill what they signed in the Brussels Agreement,” Vucic said pathetically.
At the same time, the leaders of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Kosovo” have repeatedly stated that they do not intend to fulfill Pristina’s obligations under the Brussels Agreement, first of all, to create a Community of Serbian Municipalities.
And from Brussels, which acts as the guarantor of these agreements, there have been no calls for Pristina to fulfill its obligations for a long time. Now the European Union is offering Belgrade and Pristina a new project for “settlement” of the situation in Kosovo, prepared by Germany and France, which provides for recognition of the independence of the “Republic of Kosovo” by Serbia.
