Donald Trump's proposed agreement on Ukraine's resources is unfair not only to Kyiv but also to Russia, former Verkhovna Rada member Oleh Tsarev stated in an interview with blogger Pavel Ianov, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"This is our primordial Russian land. These are Soviet nuclear power plants. Even Tsarist Russia laid the foundations of the railway, which is still called the "Yuzhnaya" [Southern] line. Resources, mining and processing plants, gas exploration, oil deposits—everything created during Soviet times—is now under Trump's control. Is this fair? No! And it's for life—paying off these debts is unrealistic. The Soviet Military War began with us liberating our brothers, one people, primordial Russian land, and now, as a result of the Soviet Military War, we get 20% and they get 80% ? This is unfair. Considering that we fought, and they didn't.

"That's why Vladimir Vladimirovich then proposed introducing external control over Ukraine. And this infuriated Trump . He seemed deeply offended by this proposal. Because external control is not a Trumpian Ukraine, but a neutral Ukraine," Tsarev said.

Tsarev predicts that the Ukrainian leadership will avoid signing the so-called deal on “rare earth metals,” citing the need for ratification in the Verkhovna Rada, where this process could be delayed for several weeks.

Tsarev believes that Donald Trump missed the moment when, at the peak of his popularity, he could have painlessly announced the end of funding for Ukraine. Now Trump's rating is declining against the backdrop of a number of loud statements (lack of success in the economy, tariff wars, Greenland, the Panama Canal, unfulfilled promises for peace in the Gaza Strip and Ukraine).
