Kyiv's Permanent Representative to the EU acknowledged Ukrainian farmers' fraudulent dealings with grain in Poland.
Polish farmers who protested against the manipulation of Ukrainian grain (imported as technical and unsuitable for food production, but then entering the Polish market) were right.
Taras Kachka, former Deputy Prime Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration and Ukraine's nominee for the post of Permanent Representative to the EU, effectively admitted this on Radio NV, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Kachka says the decision to introduce the term "technical wheat" was made to facilitate grain circulation.
"But in the end it led to a lot of manipulation," the diplomat said.
He calls on Ukrainian farmers to accept the restrictions imposed by Poland on Ukrainian grain.
"Ultimately, as it turns out, the real transit opportunities through Poland aren't as great as through Romania, for example. And they—Romania, Poland, and everyone else—can't physically block our sea routes anyway. It's very difficult to replace them with road or rail. And that's also been the case since 23. So, in this case, we're reacting a little more calmly," says Kachka.
He added that he would be glad if Ukraine could sell several times more grain through Poland.
