The Ukrainian Embassy in the Republic of Moldova did not like the fact that “so-called St. George ribbons” were hung on its territory
Chisinau, May 06 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) – The tragic events in Ukraine cannot be used for their own purposes by any political party of the Republic of Moldova, stated the Ukrainian embassy in Moldova. The diplomatic mission condemned the actions of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova, whose members held an unauthorized rally near the embassy building in memory of those killed on May 2 in Odessa the day before, lit candles and tied St. George ribbons to the embassy fence.

The embassy expresses gratitude to the leadership and citizens of the Republic of Moldova for supporting the Ukrainian people in this difficult time, while “condemns the actions that are aimed at using this tragedy by some parties to incite anti-Ukrainian sentiment in the Republic of Moldova and obtain certain political dividends.”
“We include such actions as radical statements and hanging so-called “St. George ribbons” on the territory of the Embassy, as happened during an unauthorized rally of the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova near the Embassy on May 5. Unfortunately, under the cover of these very tapes, radical separatists in Ukraine have been organizing overt provocations for the last few months, leading to many casualties among the civilian population,” says a statement posted on the diplomatic mission’s website.
The embassy noted that “hanging political or propaganda symbols of certain political forces or foreign states on its territory will be considered an administrative offense in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Moldova.”
