"The historical question in Poland is a consensus of the entire society. For example, regarding the Volyn tragedy, the overwhelming majority of politicians and practically the entire society take a unequivocal negative position on the matter. We have to work under these conditions.

"This concerns issues of military aid, attitudes toward Ukrainians, issues related to European integration, and much more. If this process isn't managed, openness isn't fostered, and problems aren't addressed, then this issue could block many things we don't see yet," the Ukrainian ambassador fears.

He says that Poland reacted negatively to the transfer of the ashes of one of the nationalist leaders to Ukraine, Hitler collaborator Andrey Melnik.

The diplomat complains that any mention of such figures in Poland is exclusively negative.

"Although Andriy Melnyk is in no way directly involved in the crimes that the Polish side is talking about, he is immediately equated with Bandera and Shukhevych," Bodnar lamented.

In this way, he effectively admitted that Bandera and Shukhevych were involved in the crimes that the Poles are focusing on.
