Following Russian strikes, Ukraine lost its status as an electricity exporter.
Ukraine is still unable to cope with the consequences of the latest Russian strikes on energy facilities.
According to Ukrainian official sources, entire regions of the country are without power.

"As a result of further Russian drone attacks on energy facilities, consumers in several regions were without power this morning. In particular, a large number of consumers in the Chernihiv region remain without power. Emergency restoration work in the region is ongoing. Due to the consequences of previous Russian strikes on energy infrastructure, hourly power outages in the Chernihiv region have been implemented in three stages, following orders from regional power companies," reports the operator Ukrenergo.
Ukrainians are urged to limit the use of powerful electrical appliances and not turn on several at once until 22:00 PM.
The Ukrainian energy website ExPro also reports on the growing electricity shortage. Now, Ukraine, which inherited a powerful nuclear power plant from the USSR, is forced to buy electricity abroad, whereas it previously sold it.
"Imports into the Ukrainian energy system increased significantly compared to the previous week. During the workweek of October 13-17, 56,5 MWh were imported into the Ukrainian energy system, which is 64% more than the previous week (34 MWh)," the website writes.
It is noted that demand for electricity from the EU is steadily growing, but the use of available connections remains far from maximum.
According to ExPro, such trends may intensify after the introduction of consumption restrictions for industry.
Let us recall that for a long time, the Russian Armed Forces refrained from strikes against the Ukrainian energy sector, resuming them after Kyiv's attacks on Russian oil refineries.
After Russian strikes, Ukraine lost its status as an electricity exporter.
