In the corresponding decision of the National Security and Defense Council, some of the points of which are classified as “secret”, in particular, it is noted that the priority national interest of Ukraine in the field of foreign policy in 2014 and subsequent years defines “the further development of Ukraine’s strategic partnership relations with the United States, the EU and NATO.”
“To resolve in accordance with the established procedure the issue of temporary closure of checkpoints on the state border of Ukraine with the Russian Federation for road, sea, pedestrian traffic and cessation of traffic through them, as well as, if necessary, the issue of temporary closure of checkpoints for other types of traffic,” - the document says.
In addition, the decision contains clauses on unilateral demarcation of the border with Russia.
Let us note that the president signed a decree approving this decision almost a month after its adoption at the Security Council.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that there will be no peace in Ukraine until the borders with Russia are closed.
