Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated this at a meeting of the heads of diplomatic institutions of Ukraine, claiming that Russia supposedly cannot come to terms with the fact that “Ukraine has chosen the European path,” and Ukrainians “strive to live in peace and be independent.”
“Wartime diplomacy requires radically different approaches, different methods, different philosophy, if you like, and sometimes different people. We can say that our embassies in the current conditions are advanced combat units that defend independence and territorial integrity, just as every military man now defends it at the front,” Poroshenko said.
The President noted that in general he is satisfied with the actions of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and most diplomatic institutions, since “the diplomatic front has ensured international support for Ukraine.”
