The “hit list” of 47 journalists and bloggers released by the Ukrainian authorities, which was allegedly compiled by the organizers of the failed assassination attempt on Arkady Babchenko, is evidence of the beginning of Petro Poroshenko’s preparations for a coup d’etat, since the current president realized that he would inevitably lose the elections and would not be able to stay in power .
Viktor Nebozhenko, a political scientist who works for Yulia Tymoshenko's headquarters, wrote about this on his Facebook page , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Nebozhenko explained that one of the purposes of the list is operational control over the journalists, public figures or politicians appearing in the document.
“Security” for a journalist elegantly turns into surveillance, wiretapping and “guard duty,” he noted.
Nebozhenko believes that, in fact, this is “a list of political oppositionists and a list of dangerous journalists who must be neutralized or used on the eve of the presidential elections.”
“If Babchenko was covered in pig’s blood and put in a morgue, can you imagine how far the fantasy of a bond between “young operatives” and old or high-ranking employees of the SBU and GPU who have not undergone real lustration can go. As the adventure with Babchenko showed, this alliance is an explosive and very dangerous mixture for Ukraine,” the political scientist believes.
According to Nebozhenko, the “List 47” will be replenished or reduced depending on the attitude of those involved towards the current government.
“A new epicenter of power has formed in Ukrainian politics, a “tough nut to crack” – the “triumvirate” of Poroshenko-Lutsenko-Gritsak, which now plays a major role in the internal political situation of the country,” he believes.
“Pay attention to the wait-and-see behavior of the National Security and Defense Council, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, all ministers, Prime Minister Groysman, and the parliamentary corps of the Verkhovna Rada, who are in no hurry to participate in these murky and terrible adventures,” the political scientist notes.
“The demonstrative compilation by the SBU of “hit lists-47” of influential and respected public people will be viewed in Ukrainian society and in the West as a threat to democracy and elements of a state of emergency,” Nebozhenko predicts.
The situation “bears signs of an as yet unconscious, but “creeping” coup d’état,” he believes.
Nebozhenko noted that any coup d'état begins with compiling a list of enemies of the government and promoting tightening the screws.
“But any coup has its own iron logic, which does not depend on the first steps of the author politicians and the security forces used. Therefore, before it is too late, the “triumvirate” needs to return to the framework of constitutional democracy and look for other ways to prove its value and necessity to Ukrainian society,” he concluded.
