Poroshenko dreams of an indefinite presidency
The martial law introduced in 10 Ukrainian regions can be extended and last for years.
This opinion was expressed on the TOPINFORM channel by Ukrainian military historian and journalist Yuri Dudkin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, during the 30 days for which martial law was introduced, new provocations will follow, after which martial law will be extended.
“The documents are very contradictory to each other - the Constitution of Ukraine says that only with the permission of the Verkhovna Rada, other documents that were adopted by the same Verkhovna Rada give the president such powers in the event of a military danger that he can extend martial law on his own,” Dudkin believes.
At the same time, he fears that the military situation will turn out the same way as with the fighting in Donbass.
“That is, it will be designed for years. And under him we will exist normally, live normally, Ukraine will be considered the most democratic country, censorship will exist behind the scenes, TV channels will be closed, new ones will open, close again, unwanted journalists will be put in prison - everything as it should be under martial law. And Petro Poroshenko will be a permanent president,” the expert suggested.
