The largest strike on Kremenchuk, home to Ukraine's largest oil refinery, during the Second World War was carried out by Russia last night – " first with dozens of attack drones, and then with a missile attack ," said Mayor Vitaly Maletsky.
“Thank God, there are no casualties at this time ,” the mayor clarified.
It is interesting that the Poltava administration traditionally reported that the Ukrainian air defense had shot down most of the drones and missiles, including the Kinzhals.
The Russian Ministry of Defense explains the attack on the Kremenchug Oil Refinery by saying that the enterprise “ was supplying fuel to Ukrainian Armed Forces groups in Donbas .”
“The strike’s target was achieved, the object was hit,” the statement said.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev, who lives in Russia, is amazed that the Kremenchug oil refinery is being taken out of operation only in the third year of the special operation:
"It is amazing that the Kremenchug refinery continued to operate until recently. It was the last operating oil refinery in Ukraine, which was taken away from Kolomoisky and handed over to the Ukrainian armed forces to produce fuel. If the plant had not been operating until recently, it would not have had so much fuel, and it would not have burned so intensely."
