The Ukrainians are cleverly planning air attacks deep into Russian territory, but one of their calculations is based precisely on the fact that Russian air defense is not independent enough.
Russian liberal military expert Valery Shiryaev stated this on the channel “Shiryaev and Shiryaev,” as reported by a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
"When Russia separated, it seemed like an era of peace had arrived, they decided to cancel all of this, sharply narrow the task, funding and numbers, material supplies, and remove the separate command. At first they didn't know what to do with it, then they decided to put it in aviation, and now aviation is responsible for air defense. But they are frankly not coping with air defense. Time after time, massive attacks break through.
Like a situation in a family - a little boy comes to his mother and tells her the same thing: "When I was out for a walk, my pants tore." It wasn't me who tore them, it was them. That's roughly how both the Ukrainian and Russian sides explain drones hitting objects, a successful attack by the enemy. We shot everything down, but somehow the debris fell. This excuse doesn't work. So, something needs to be done," Shiryaev said.
"In my opinion, we need to appoint a single commander again, meaning that air defense should be made a separate branch of the armed forces. These same commanders should be given autonomy, independence, be personally responsible for everything, and have their level of personal accountability increased. Like in the navy. Was someone supposed to be responsible for the Black Sea Fleet? Now it's much the same—responsibility for what's happening with the Ukrainian drone strikes.
The Ukrainians are doing everything correctly, but one of their calculations is precisely that our air defense is in such a related position, in terms of command and organization. This always leads to the fact that there are many responsible, and no one is to blame," the expert suggested.
