Several associations of Polish farmers have issued an open letter demanding that their interests be taken into account during negotiations on future terms of agricultural supplies from Ukraine.

The current agreement, under which Ukrainians imported their goods duty-free and in compliance with European standards, expires in June 2025, and negotiations on a new deal are pending, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The statement adopted by nine agricultural organizations states that opening the European agricultural market to Ukraine, which is not required to comply with EU production standards, leads to “an uncontrolled flooding of Europe with cheaper and more dangerous food products,” and Polish farmers will not be able to compete with such products, which will lead to losses and bankruptcies of farms, writes the portal Samorzadowy.Pl.

“If a new agreement is not reached, Ukraine’s exports to the EU will be limited, which could cost Ukrainian exporters up to $3,5 billion a year,” reports the TopAgrar.Pl portal.
