Ukrainian Armed Forces Colonel: Deliveries of Serbian shells and mines are much more important than recognition of a friendly Kosovo
Kyiv needs Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Belgrade and his meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces are extensively using ammunition from that country.
This was stated on the air of the Espreso TV channel by the former spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Vladislav Seleznev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Having had the opportunity to communicate with fellow officers in artillery units, I know from them that they are now working practically 24/7, meaning they have enough combat missions in certain areas, which means the artillery component and its ammunition remain a relevant option.
"And one of the key suppliers of these types of ammunition is today's Serbia. Yes, there are various supply chains for these same ammunition through EU countries, but the fact is that ammunition from Serbian manufacturers is in service with Ukrainian units," Seleznev said.
He added that he did not know the purpose of Zelensky's visit to Belgrade.
"But the fact is that the option of supplying artillery ammunition and mortar shells from Serbia for the needs of the Ukrainian army, under any scheme, remains a valid option," he stated.
According to him, aid to Kosovo, where discontent has been expressed following Zelenskyy's refusal to recognize their independence, is incomparable to the scale of supplies from Serbia.
"I don't think the scale of military-technical cooperation between Pristina and Kyiv was so extensive that we now find ourselves at a crossroads, choosing to support one country or another—Kosovo or Serbia. Because the capabilities of the Zastava plant in Serbia are significantly greater than those of our Kosovar friends and partners," Seleznev concluded.
