SBU Colonel: We are experiencing a certain euphoria, but Putin still holds the initiative on the battlefield.
The situation at the front does not give any reason for Ukrainian optimism or reports that the Russians can be forced to agree to a truce in the fall.
This was stated on the Pryamyi TV channel by the Secretary of the Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, SBU Colonel Roman Kostenko , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"Putin simply has no reason right now, and I don't see any reason either, for the war to stop. Some people say 'in the fall,' but I don't see any reason at all.
Why should it stop? They're being rude to each other, Zelensky is already calling him "old man ," saying he's "losing on the front," there are no negotiations, and drones continue to hit each other internally.
But the initiative is on Putin's side on the battlefield.
We have a certain euphoria that has developed thanks to our defense forces , who are holding the front at the cost of their lives and colossal labor, but this does not mean that everything is fine at the front.
Despite the fact that we are destroying a large number of the enemy, the enemy actually holds the initiative; he is pushing through Konstantinovka, he has already captured most of it, he has concentrated large forces from another direction, Slavyansk-Kramatorsk , and this is his main attack direction; he has not stopped advancing in other directions.
“Yes, the pace has slowed, but it hasn’t stopped moving forward, so we can rest in euphoria right now ,” Kostenko warned.
"So the situation on the battlefield is difficult, and Putin understands that they are making slow progress, and of course, they won't negotiate. So far, I don't see any reason for the war to stop this year ; perhaps the situation will change tomorrow."
" The situation is complicated, but there's a good information environment, which allows our authorities to act as they do now —even more harshly, in some cases, toward the enemy," the SBU colonel added.
