A colonel on Russia's new territories: "The infection will live inside them. Isn't Western Ukraine's experience enough for us?"
Regardless of what the Russian leadership decides regarding the new mobilization for the Northern Military District, the new territories require strengthening the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to combat the Bandera underground – including by drawing on local personnel.
Retired colonel and military expert Viktor Baranets stated this on the Red Line television channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" What are the people at the top telling us? Mobilization isn't needed yet. Note the word 'yet,' but we might need it."
Secondly, the 140 thousand reservists who are currently training at training grounds and training centers are also based on the expectation that we will have to draw on reserves.
We're taking control of many, many territories. Fine, the army will conduct combat operations in the LBS. But who will maintain order, who will fight terrorists, underground fighters, and saboteurs? Forces are needed here too.
Relying solely on the active army is no longer enough. Even now, the republics and territories we control need to develop their own law enforcement agencies: the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, intelligence agencies, and so on.
We'll fully return the DPR, LPR, and the other republics, but, excuse me, the infection will still be alive within them. Isn't the experience of Western Ukraine , which spent another 10 years destroying our Soviet organs, our soldiers, and our officers, enough for us?
Therefore, we need to think very hard now about these reserves at the expense of new territories or populations ,” Baranets stated.
