As is known, the US Department of Defense has added 33 Russian universities to the list of organizations that pose a threat to US national security.

The "blacklist" includes Moscow State University, the Higher School of Economics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the Kurchatov Institute, Skoltech, Tomsk Polytechnic University, and more than two dozen other Russian universities, research institutes, and research organizations, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The formal reason is to prevent the leakage of military and other technologies to Russia.

However, political scientist Nikolai Sorokin is certain that this is revenge for the loss of the opportunity to recruit the best specialists from Russian universities and lure them to work in the United States.

"What's interesting is that the Pentagon hadn't done this before. Why? Because after graduating from the best Russian universities, American recruiters were already keeping an eye on the students. They met with them in advance, negotiated with them, and oriented them toward working in the US.

We are talking about the most talented students who studied on a budget.

"So it turns out that the Russian state is training these public sector employees at its own expense, after which they wave goodbye and go off to work in the West. In other words, we're essentially training personnel for the Western military-industrial complex," Sorokin said.

“And therefore, the Russian government and the presidential administration have taken a number of measures , as a result of which, in fact, moving to the West for graduates of state-funded departments of faculties has become very difficult.

“And so, after they were convinced that they could no longer recruit students from us, they imposed sanctions against these universities,” he added.
