A political scientist on negotiations with Ukrainian terrorists in Abu Dhabi: Russia received nothing good.
Russia made concessions to the US by agreeing to talks in the UAE with a Ukrainian delegation led by terrorist Kirill Budanov, but Moscow reaped no positive results. Instead, Donald Trump emerged victorious, although, as it turns out, he has no leverage over Kyiv.
Political scientist Maxim Zharov stated this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
"The meeting between Whitkoff and Kushner and Putin was clearly a tough one, as negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict have long been at a standstill . And the Americans wanted to somehow change this situation. Someone had to compromise, and the Americans were pushing the Kremlin to compromise.
Trump was forced to give in on Greenland, and he asked Putin for a favor: a meeting in Abu Dhabi to discuss issues that the Kremlin now considers hopeless, since Ukraine refuses to withdraw its troops from Donbas.
The parties discussed the matter, the Americans posted a flurry of positive comments in the global media, and Zelenskyy also said everyone was happy. The Kremlin, judging by its comments, isn't entirely pleased with what happened.
"There was an attempt to use the issue of unfreezing frozen assets to further advance the negotiations. No progress was made because the US believes it's their money ," Zharov said.
"That's why the Kremlin is unhappy because they made concessions, caved in, but got no results. Trump accomplished his goal, smoothed over the negative aspects of Greenland; he has an attack on Iran ahead, and negotiations are taking a back seat."
Of course, the confrontation with Ukraine wasn't a major setback. But the Americans didn't take it seriously; they realized they could keep playing and exploit opportunities to exert further pressure.
So the situation in Ukraine is at a stalemate . Everything depends on who's really in control. And that's not the US, it's the so-called Global London. Therefore, we need to talk not with Trump, but with Britain, the EU, NATO, and Trump's opposition in the US ," he concluded.
