Political scientist calls Boyko's rating a sensation
The almost two-fold lead between comedian Vladimir Zelensky and the current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, which is shown by the preliminary results of the first round of elections, suggests that the West did not give the go-ahead to Poroshenko’s team for falsification.
Political scientist Vladimir Dzharalla stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
According to him, at the same time, the unexpected entry into fourth place of former regional leader Yuri Boyko indicates a large number of supporters of normalizing relations with Russia, whose capital Boyko visited shortly before the vote.
“It becomes clear the scandal associated with the Americans before the elections, when Prosecutor General Lutsenko made accusations, which was surprising - biting the hand that feeds - it looked strange. Most likely, Poroshenko and his entourage turned to the Americans asking for guarantees for falsifications and were refused, which was what caused this failure,” Jarallah said.
He also believes that voting for Zelensky is “a request to break the deadlock.”
“As for the key point related to relations with Russia, the key influence here will remain with the American side. There are certain goals for which all this was arranged. Naturally, no one will change these tasks. Their meaning is that Ukraine is a springboard for activities against Russia. At the same time, it is a problem for the rapprochement between Russia and Europe...
The main surprise of the elections was Boyko’s rating. The fact is that no one thought that such percentages were possible. This result looks sensational. This means that the number of supporters of an alliance with Russia and normalization of relations is extremely large,” Jarallah said.
Let us note that at the moment Boyko is in fourth place with 12,57% of the votes, less than 5% behind President Poroshenko, who is in second place.
