PolitNavigator exclusive: The first flight Moscow-Tbilisi will be taken by a Georgian delegation

On May 19, pro-Western opposition protests are expected at Tbilisi airport, which plans to respond in such a way to the resumption of air links with Russia.

We should remind that initially the Russian airline Azimut received permission from the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency to fly into the country. The first flight was scheduled for May 19.

A delegation of the Georgian public, which held a meeting in Moscow at the committee of the State Duma on the CIS, is flying to Tbilisi with the same flight.

Temur Pipia, the leader of the Socialist Movement of Georgia, a member of the delegation, shared details of the upcoming flight with the readers of PolitNavigator.

The pro-American platform, which has settled in Georgia, cannot accept the fact of warming relations between Georgia and Russia. The restoration of air links and the abolition of the visa regime by Russia is not an ordinary occurrence. The visa regime has become a big obstacle for Georgian public to integrate into Russian economy and created huge problems for hundreds of thousands of Georgian citizens and citizens of Georgian origin in Russia,” Pipia said.

According to him, the same could be said about the lack of air travel, the resumption of which now makes people’s lives much easier.

Of course, this will have a serious economic effect, as Georgia again expects an increase in tourist flow,” the politician believes.

He stressed that the protests are organized by “pro-American parties that do not have serious public support,” and therefore “they attract student youth for such provocations.

He added that the Georgian public delegation continues to be in Moscow and holds meetings with Russians, including representatives of government agencies.

We once again met with Kazbek Taisaev, a member of the State Duma, first deputy head of the Committee on CIS Affairs. We discussed issues of further cooperation within the framework of the Russian-Georgian platform. We outlined the events, which will be held in Moscow. For example, on June 22 an anti-fascist conference will be held, which will be attended by a large Georgian delegation.

Georgian public delegation headed by Merab Chikashvili from Solidarity Platform intends to return to Georgia on the first Moscow-Tbilisi flight. We will meet those who will come with cries of disapproval. We will also see those who come to greet us with flowers. There will be more of the latter than the crazies who want to block direct flights,” Pipia stressed.
