The court sentenced the perpetrator of the first assassination attempt on former Ukrainian MP and Crimean-based political figure Oleg Tsarev to 24 years in prison . He will also be fined 800 rubles, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Southern District Military Court announced the verdict today. On instructions from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), a 46-year-old local resident organized surveillance of Tsarev.
"In January 2023, he was recruited by SBU officers to prepare an assassination attempt on public and political figure Oleg Tsarev, who lived in Yalta on the territory of the Kirov sanatorium. According to the FSB, an improvised explosive device of an electric type with a high-explosive fragmentation effect was found at the terrorist's residence.
