The shift in American attention to a strategic standoff with China means that Russia will be able to seize the moment and deal with Ukraine.
Liberal Russian military expert Valery Shiryaev stated this on his video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" Because China is America's main enemy, the US is starting to save money in the European theater of military operations . [Trump] is forcing European countries to spend 5% of their budgets on their defense. He says he will no longer maintain troops in the European theater and is shifting his primary strategic deterrence efforts to the Pacific region, where China confronts their allies, South Korea and Japan.
"But the United States doesn't have its own territory there. But there are military bases there. So , everything will fall back on the navy. The American navy. And the air force, of course. From various bases. They will provide all of this. And that, first and foremost, means expenses, very large expenses," Shiryaev said.
He stressed that Russia needs to take advantage of the fact that the situation in Ukraine is no longer of interest to Washington.
"Kyiv understands that it's not the main player in the American game plan; it's focused on China. The Kremlin also understands that if it insists on its position and continues all these battles, it can be expected that the Americans won't pay so much attention to it ; it's still focused on China.
That the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is still relegated to second place for them. These are very significant things,” the expert added.
