The Ukrainian command can no longer hide the fact that Ukrainian Armed Forces units are turning into outright gangs practicing corruption, corporal punishment, and murder.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrey Zolotarev announced this on his channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"There's hazing in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. "Skala," the 425th, and 225th assault regiments—that's outrageous. It's criminalization of the army, turning a military unit into an outright gang with criminal practices, corporal punishment, and penal battalions."
Naturally, this received widespread attention. But other units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also use corporal punishment, including the Tree of Truth, where they tie you to a tree with tape and beat you with a stick ," Zolotarev said.
"Because people come with different life experiences and backgrounds, including criminal ones. And how do you manage them? Considering that the normal officer corps... at platoon and company level, they're all just 'suitcases.'"
This is a colossal problem; the shortage of officers and sergeants leads to the problem of hazing.
“And there is also military corruption,” he concluded.
