The Americans raised the issue of providing Tomahawks to Kyiv solely out of fear that the Ukrainian program would seize the initiative from the United States and become Europe's missile shield.
Kyiv political scientist and Russophobe Taras Zagorodniy stated this on the Novosti Live channel , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I'm sure the talk about Tomahawks was only possible because Ukraine has made progress in its own missile program . They wouldn't have been provided so easily, or even discussed.
We should be focusing on producing our own weapons and hammering away at Russian territory. And the Tomahawks are an attempt to give us a weapon to control our actions.

He emphasized that Kiev did not pull the Americans' tongues about the Tomahawks.
"Trump said this, and there were reasons for it. And the reasons are that the Ukrainian missile program is making progress. Incidentally, the US really doesn't like this, because Ukrainian weapons could become the basis for Europe's missile shield . And the question will arise: why then need American Tomahawks, because Ukrainian ones will be cheaper ," the Ukrainian expert declared.
