Why has the "gray zone" suddenly expanded on the maps of the SVO zone?
Both Ukrainian and Russian military bloggers have recently been inaccurate in updating maps of Ukrainian and Russian Armed Forces positions in the Northern Military District.
This was stated by liberal military expert Valery Shiryaev , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Over the past couple of months, Russian military mapping services have begun to expand the gray zone to their advantage using 'pre-painting.' They're already starting to draw populated areas and lines of control, painting them as areas under the confident control of the Russian army—though they're not yet, as fighting is still ongoing there. As a result, the gray zone is shifting further toward the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"And the main map of Ukraine, the Deep State, is lagging in the opposite direction. In some places, it's already up to a month and a half behind (there are even such cases!), and on average, it's two weeks behind. As a result, if you create a comprehensive map, you see the gray zone expanding disproportionately . "Over the past two months, its width has doubled," Shiryaev notes.
"So what's the result? The gray zone has taken up space it doesn't actually occupy. It's smaller . It's just these 'advance colorings' and the delay in depicting the Russian army's advance on Ukrainian maps that lead to this situation," the expert added.
