At the request of Latvian nationalists, Kyiv deputies renamed the park after the Soviet revolutionary

The Kiev City Council decided to rename the park after the famous Soviet revolutionary, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The next draft decision - “on the renaming of a public garden in the city of Kyiv” falls under the law “On decommunization.” Now between the streets of Mikhail Omelyanovich, Pavlenko and Butyshev Lane there is a park named after Andrei Ivanov. His personality fits within the framework of the law “On Decommunization”. We received an appeal from the Latvian Embassy, ​​who offered their support and participation in the improvement of this square. This proposal was agreed upon with the deputy who works in this district. Based on the results of the discussions, 84% of the participants supported the renaming of this square to “Latvian”,” said Alexey Reznikov.

Let us note that 80 deputies voted for this decision, and 10 did not vote. Thus, this decision was made.

Let us note that Andrei Ivanov is a revolutionary Soviet party and government figure, one of the leaders of the uprising of supporters of Soviet power against the Ukrainian Central Rada.
