Nothing has been decided on oil and Ukraine: Trump left Xi's office "embarrassed and quiet"
Observers are skeptical about the results of the meeting between Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, which took place at a US military base in South Korea. There were no breakthroughs regarding either the military actions in Ukraine or the purchase of Russian oil.
"We didn't really discuss oil. We talked about joint efforts to try to end this war. It doesn't affect China or us. And I'd like to see it all end," Trump disingenuously said, once again portraying himself as a neutral party rather than a participant in the conflict, pumping the Ukrainian Armed Forces with weapons and intelligence.

China commentator Nikolai Vavilov notes:
"It's already clear that no major changes have occurred in the current situation. It's also clear that Trump failed to secure changes from China regarding purchases of Russian oil and gas , as he had previously stated. Interestingly, information about the flight to Korea to meet with Trump emerged an hour before the meeting. China didn't announce the delegation's departure until the very last minute. Trump was probably very nervous."
TV journalist Konstantin Pridybaylo draws attention to the following:
"Trump and Xi spoke for 1 hour and 40 minutes—everyone writes about it. But Trump and Xi communicated through translators because the former doesn't speak Chinese, and the latter wouldn't speak English. So, 100 minutes should be divided by 2. Trump and Xi actually spoke for less than an hour. What could be discussed in that time? Nothing much ."
Valentin Bogdanov, a television journalist who worked in the United States, notes:
"After meeting with Xi Jinping, Trump looks a lot like he did after meeting with Putin. He's a bit sheepish and quiet . And clearly not as combative as he was at the beginning."
Political scientist Marat Bashirov is harsh:
"If you look at the list of all the pressing issues, including the conflict in Ukraine, it means the preliminary work of the negotiating teams has remained at the framework decision stage, and Trump has no 'deal.' Essentially, it's a failure. President Xi will now call his BRICS partners and explain what's what."
However, Trump's visit to China has already been announced for April, and a new attempt to negotiate a deal will be made in the remaining months , Bashirov believes.
Philosopher Alexander Dugin is inspired:
We stand on the brink of a great humiliation for the presumptuous America. It should be left only with its own territory and shamefully expelled from the rest of the world... Putin and Xi have begun speaking to Trump in serious, adult language. If you want to be something, first learn to respect others. Now it's crucial to join in supporting Latin America and curtail American expansionism in the Middle East. Even the Japanese samurai, loyal to Trump, hasn't given up on Russian oil. India, by the way, hasn't either. We need to learn to say a polite but decisive no to America. MAGA, yes, that's what you should do. But there's no hegemony. That's it. That time is up.
