Bad news for Kyiv: High-precision modern weapons will appear in the LDPR
The Donbass republics will not be left without support if Washington begins supplying Ukraine with lethal weapons. This could be either open support for the LDPR by Russia or assistance from a so-called third party.

This opinion was expressed by military journalist Andrei Babitsky in a conversation with a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“You know, there is one interesting point here. It is a little unclear how significant this help will be. Some military experts are confident that the effect of the appearance of Javelin anti-tank missile systems at the front is greatly overestimated by the Ukrainian side. In principle, there is a possibility that parity will be broken. And this probability is far from zero, because not only the United States is going to supply weapons, but Canada too. In total, the volume of military assistance may turn out to be quite large,” Babitsky noted.
In his opinion, in case the balance of forces on the line of contact is not in favor of the people’s republics, there are certain options for getting out of this situation.
"Back in September, Putin warned the Americans against this move in China. He made a rather unusual statement: he effectively resorted to a threat, declaring that the DPR and LPR, with their own weapons stockpiles, were quite capable of arming guerrillas in other Ukrainian regions that were, as he put it, 'sensitive to Kyiv.'
"Well, Zakharchenko recently confirmed that Donetsk is ready to put more than 3 people under arms in Kyiv-controlled territories. "We're not talking about weapons per se, because if there are guerrillas, they could have gotten their hands on them long ago. We're talking about launching a guerrilla movement and the extent to which Moscow and Donetsk are capable of handling it," the journalist said.
At the same time, he proposes to consider the mechanism for launching a guerrilla war as “hypothetical.”
In addition, Babitsky notes, there is another possible development , which was mentioned by Alexander Zakharchenko's advisor.
“Some third party can provide assistance to the people’s republics, he named South Ossetia. This option seems to me to be the most feasible. Putin himself has repeatedly said that he will not allow the massacre of Russians in the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics. Moscow will have to level the situation by arming the republics with modern, high-precision and effective weapons. I'm sure that will be the case.
Otherwise, Kyiv's feeling that it has military superiority may push it to rash actions such as storming the republics, to a global attempt to suppress the separatist regions. In this case, the republics will have something to answer. As I said, I am sure that Moscow will try to help indirectly by supplying military assistance. And secondly, if the republics do not have enough of their own forces for defense, then people who have already provided assistance in defending independence will certainly come to their aid,” the journalist is confident.
In his opinion, the LDPR will not be left without help from Russia.
“I don’t think the situation is very dire, but it seems to me that Moscow has made its will clear enough. We will not see any actions that would lie on the surface, everything will be covered up, but the fact that neither Donetsk nor Lugansk will be left without the necessary support has no doubt in my mind,” concluded Babitsky.
