Ukraine has been unable to build an alternative to the thermal power plants damaged by the strikes.
The former head of the state-owned company Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudritsky, announced this on air at Ukrainian Radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"There's a lot of talk about resilience plans, preparation, equipping hospitals and boiler houses with generators, and so on. In reality, the most fundamental, practically the only factor in our resilience this winter is how much new generation, how many new power plants, Ukraine was able to build to replace the 10 thermal power plants that, as President Zelenskyy said, are all damaged," the guest said.
According to him, the relevant data was recently announced.
"If you remember, last winter there was a shortage of seven thousand megawatts. President Zelenskyy mentioned this figure. Only 700 have been built over the years of the full-scale invasion. This is to help us understand that next winter, like last winter, like the winters before, decentralized generation, unfortunately, although it is already visible on the national control room screen, will not save us.
“That is, our pace of deployment of the alternative decentralized generation that should replace Ukraine’s damaged thermal power plants is unsatisfactory,” Kudritsky concluded.
