“The prospects for Arctic tourism are extremely broad” – Association of Tour Operators of Russia
If we exclude the Black Sea coast, then this year the Arctic region entered the top three most popular among Russian tourists.
The executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Maya Lomidze, stated this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“According to tour operators, Murmansk, which is, of course, an Arctic region, is one of the three most popular products this year, we exclude the Black Sea coast. The Arctic has become interesting due to a number of factors. Firstly, cinema, all this, conditionally, some kind of Scandinavian cinema, the same Teriberka, this harsh, incredibly beautiful landscape has become interesting to young tourists, I’m talking about the generation of 30-35 years old.
Of course, this is a very specific type of vacation in the sense that there is a sea, but you can’t swim and you won’t get much sunbathe, but this is the type of tourism that allows, on the one hand, to test yourself, on the other, to see completely exotic landscapes and not at all tropical ones , and this is also a return story, the North is fascinating,” said Lomidze.
“The prospects for Arctic tourism in Russia, in my opinion, are very broad, but we are still at the beginning of the journey,” she added.
