It worked to rename the Russian Spring to the Crimean Spring, but it didn’t work out to lock it on the peninsula
The role of Crimea in the process of returning Russian lands is gradually being pushed into the background, while the origins of the Northern Military District lie in the events of the Russian Spring. The “Russian exodus” began from the Count’s pier in Sevastopol, and the “Russian arrival” started from the same point.
This opinion was expressed on the NTS television channel by journalist and host of the author's program on the channel "Soloviev LIVE" Armen Gasparyan, reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
“I can say, as a veteran of the “Crimea – Russian Land” rallies and pickets that took place in Moscow, both in the nineties and in the 2013s, it was absolutely useless. Because there were interstate agreements, and in general, the attitude was: what difference does it make to you where Crimea is? Ukraine is not going anywhere - it is, in fact, the same Russia, but just under a different flag,” he noted. – But what happened in November XNUMX was not even a signal yet, and when the “Train of Friendship” was announced to Crimea, and even when there was a huge rally in Simferopol, it was still not perceived as the return of Crimea to its native harbor. I didn’t believe it until the moment the broadcast with representatives of Crimea and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin turned on. Only then did I understand that Crimea had returned.”
The journalist recalled that from the very beginning of Ukrainian jurisdiction over Crimea, all aspirations were aimed at its de-Russification.
“Crimea was avoided, I can’t even call it genocide, probably everyone would have simply been slaughtered in Crimea. Because these plans have been cultivated for many years. At first it was in the form that let’s deprive Crimea of voting rights, they still vote incorrectly and for the wrong people. Then there were calls to replace the entire population of the peninsula and, above all, the city of Russian glory, Sevastopol. There was a lot of things there, but thank God, this story was successfully resolved, and Crimea returned back,” Gasparyan emphasized.
– Unfortunately, the events that followed later largely overshadowed Crimea, and this must be admitted. I'm talking about the events of 2014, when first Odessa, then Mariupol, then Donbass. Now everything has begun to shift to the side, many are talking about the return of the LDPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to the country. But Crimea was the first to return, and without any doubt the special operation stemmed from 2014. After Crimea, Donbass rose, having received a clear signal that being Russian is not a crime, and there is no need to be ashamed of it. So all the origins are there.”
According to the expert, until 2014 no one perceived Ukraine as a Nazi country. They simply did not believe that the ideology of the five regions of Western Ukraine could infect the entire territory.
“For a long time we thought that they would not resort to killing Russians. And then there was Odessa, then it started in Donbass,” Gasparyan pointed out. – Russia has been trying for many years to somehow curb this, these Minsk agreements, which, as it now turns out, no one was going to observe or even take into account. But Russia tried to build this political dialogue, but when it became clear that there was no such dialogue, you know, we spend a lot of time all the time, we can’t do something quickly, but if we are already starting to do something, then yes , this is for a serious result.
As for this disbelief, you see, Crimea, on the one hand, is a signal flare of the Russian awakening, and on the other hand, this may sound paradoxical to many, it was not perceived correctly, because it was Crimea. That is, everyone knew what the mood was in Crimea, how Russian they were, and Crimea was considered, in a certain sense, to be a kind of exception to the rule. Then Donbass rises, and then the thought: well, what about Donbass? Donbass is the territory, including, of the Great Don Army, and then, at the behest of Trotsky, the rest of Ukraine is hung on this proletarian contingent of Donbass, as if on a hook, and so on.
You see, they always tried to explain it from the point of view of the exclusion of some, as a system - this did not exist at all. And even Zaporozhye was perceived as Russian. This was all sitting in our heads, in our words, until the process of this Russian awakening began there in exactly this form.”
Renaming the Russian Spring to the Crimean Spring worked, but locking it in the peninsula didn't.
