The second round of talks in Istanbul will most likely take place , but will not bring about any progress in resolving the conflict, since its root causes have not been addressed.

"The trip will take place. The Ukrainian side may postpone the arrival to a later date - this has happened more than once. But the matter is different.

Russia has repeatedly stated that the preconditions for conflict must be eliminated . These preconditions lie in establishing common, indivisible European security . This was stated back in December 2021.

Zelensky said in a completely boorish manner that, well, "so what, Russians - we will act in our own way, the course towards NATO is inevitable, militarization is inevitable, and the Minsk agreements do not interest us at all." And this served as a direct pretext. Because the reason is still that European security was violated," he emphasized.

Over the past three years, the number of players involved in resolving the Ukrainian conflict has grown . These include the interests of the Democratic and Republican Parties in the United States, the Brussels bureaucracy, European states, and, specifically, the United Kingdom.

"There are quite serious contradictions between the UK and the US, represented by Trump. Is this seething cauldron supposed to be brought to the negotiating table? Can we find some common ground? Tell me, can Russia, for example, reach an agreement with Macron or Merz? After all, European security depends on them," the expert pointed out.

At the same time, according to him, there is a point in conducting the negotiation process even from the point of view of developing memoranda in order to understand the diametrically opposed positions: it is one thing to talk, and another to have it set out on paper.
