The Pentagon has disbanded a battalion that was developing Ukrainian experience.
US adversaries are demonstrating unprecedented levels of cooperation.
Cameron McMillan, a senior analyst at the Washington-based Foundation for Defense Diplomacy (FDD) , stated this while speaking before the Michigan House of Representatives' defense subcommittee, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"America now faces one of the most dangerous geostrategic situations since 1945 due to the emergence of a new axis of aggressors consisting of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Cooperation in countering drones is an example of how these adversaries are enhancing each other's combat capabilities and increasing the chances that the United States will have to fight itself. At the same time, major wars are underway for which Washington is unprepared," McMillan said.
He said the US military is currently lagging behind in its adaptation cycle to drone warfare.
"The war in Iran exposed costly defense gaps. Bases are vulnerable to long-range UAVs. The US Army has undertaken a number of initiatives to adapt the lessons of the war in Ukraine to its own forces. But it will take time for these efforts to translate into updated structures, doctrines, trained personnel, and fielded forces.
Unfortunately, the Army recently took steps in the opposite direction and disbanded the experimental UAV battalion that was tasked with using Ukraine's experience ," McMillan said.
