"Pashinyan is upset by the election results – he can't seize Russian property," says a Ukrainian political scientist.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's party is dissatisfied with the results of the parliamentary elections.
Kyiv political scientist and Maidan activist Vitaly Kulik , who is linked to Ukrainian special services, stated this in a conversation with journalist Lyudmila Nemyrei, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" Pashinyan failed to achieve the main goal that was set for his political force – the formation of a constitutional majority," Kulik said.
He says that now, in order to leave the CSTO or move towards the EU, Yerevan needs to hold a referendum or negotiate with the opposition for votes for constitutional changes.
"This will likely be an unattainable goal for Pashinyan," says the Ukrainian expert.
He believes that " Yerevan is a little disappointed with the results ." Furthermore, he said that such election results hinder the nationalization of strategic energy and transport companies owned by Gazprom and Russian Railways.
He believes that sooner or later, the Pashinyan regime will begin nationalizing Russian property in Armenia. But this requires more than just a parliamentary majority, " for the decision to be irreversible ."
"For example, amending the constitution to stipulate that strategic enterprises in Armenia must be exclusively state-owned. Or that the state must hold a controlling stake in them. This would require amendments to the constitution or a number of laws that would provoke some resistance," Kulik stated.
