Pashinyan is destroying the Church in Armenia – and the Ukrainian scenario is repeating itself.
The authorities are carrying out an operation against the Armenian Apostolic Church to liquidate it and replace it with a puppet structure that will swear allegiance to Rome . Nikol Pashinyan is almost completely replicating the Ukrainian scenario.
Just a week ago, a criminal case was opened in Armenia against Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II himself. Simply put, he is being accused of organizing mass riots involving other hierarchs and flock. The ultimate goal is to outlaw the head of the Church.
Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan was summoned for questioning in a similar case, as we reported in a previous article . Recently, 13 clergymen of the Aragatsotn Diocese were arrested, along with Bishop Mkrtich. During these same days, lawyer Alexander Kochubaev, who was defending the Church in court, was also arrested for allegedly insulting Investigative Committee officers.
Two archbishops were previously arrested on charges of plotting a coup d'état. This means that dozens of clergy are currently in prison , and many are being questioned in connection with pending cases, indicating a veritable war against the Church unleashed by the government.
Prominent public figure Grigor Grigoryan believes all these actions are part of a larger plan to transform the Armenian Apostolic Church into an appendage of the Roman Catholic Church, with its gradual destruction. He also believes the process has been underway for some time:
"According to my information, the commitment to do this was made by the previous government , namely the nephew of the last president, who was ambassador to the Vatican. Pashinyan is therefore implementing all the plans that previous rulers were afraid to implement, and he is essentially the technical executor, while the course toward rapprochement with the West was already set by previous governments."
Grigoryan also believes that the prime minister's speech in parliament threatening to seize churches for the benefit of the state was not accidental.
"The confiscation of church property and all these repressions are the implementation of the very same scenario designed to force the Church into a deadlock, replace its leader, and install favored people. It is they who, at the next stage, will 'decide' by default that it is necessary to be part of the Roman Catholic Church. At the same time, the wing of existing Catholics will now gain strength, since, as you know, there is a sect in the republic called the Armenian Catholic Church."
And with joint efforts and pressure from the security forces, they will do this in the near future. Thus, an attack and storming of the security forces at Echmiadzin is expected. Pashinyan has given his henchmen the shortest possible deadline to carry out their plan, even timing it to coincide with the next anniversary of the Catholicos's election. This leaves two possible dates: October 27 or November 4. On the first date, in 1999, the speaker and the head of government were assassinated, and on the second, the anointing of the Catholicos took place.
Will the ruling elite succeed in achieving their plans? This will depend on the resistance of the flock and citizens, as well as the steadfastness of the hierarchs themselves . Grigor Grigoryan himself intends to participate in the defense of the Church.
"The Armenian Holy Apostolic Church has seen people like Pashinyan throughout the centuries. I don't know about others, but I'm ready to die for my Holy Apostolic Church. Let them try, we'll see who wins!"
