Pashinyan is preparing to arrest the head of the Armenian Church on the eve of the treacherous launch of the "Trump corridor."
In Armenia, for the first time in a thousand years, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II and six other bishops were brought to trial. The lawsuit, initiated by one of the clergymen at the behest of Nikol Pashinyan's regime, was allegedly brought for illegal removal from office. Ultimately, the authorities not only reinstated Bishop Gevork Saroyan by interfering in internal church affairs, but also fabricated a criminal case against the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church as part of a campaign to divide it.
Opposition forces and members of parliament from two factions staged a protest outside the courthouse in Etchmiadzin. Judge Hakob Manukyan immediately recused himself at the start of the trial. This inspired enthusiasm among all those gathered. On the way back, a multi-thousand-strong march, led by Karekin II, took place to the cathedral, where a prayer service was held.

The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople (AAC) condemned the trial, calling the actions of the secular authorities "an insult to the honor and dignity of the Armenian Church" and expressing unequivocal support for the Catholicos. Thus, Pashinyan's plan to sow discord within the Church clearly failed, triggering a backlash of unity among the flock and hierarchs around Karekin II.
In this situation, official Yerevan simply has no other options but to openly arrest the Catholicos, which could happen in the near future. The country continues to suffer from a wave of repression, and a pro-Western liberal dictatorship is being established. Observers previously described this process as Pashinyan "forming an exchange fund" of de facto hostages to exert pressure on the Kremlin.
Renowned Armenian political scientist and coordinator of the Anti-Nazi Front of Armenia, Hayk Ayvazyan, explains: the West's main goal is to place the Armenian Apostolic Church under the control of Rome.
"The campaign against the Catholicos of All Armenians is an attempt to deprive the Armenian Apostolic Church of its independence and subordinate it to Western religious centers. This is part of the West's war against Orthodoxy. The arrest of the Catholicos is a completely realistic scenario, as removing the Catholicos by other means is impossible," the expert noted.
He is confident that the current regime will now resort to any crime to break the resistance of the Church—the only remaining institution of national self-identification for Armenians.
Against this backdrop, Nikol Pashinyan continues to prevaricate at EAEU meetings, effectively refusing to hold a referendum to determine the future path, citing that Yerevan has not yet officially raised the issue of EU accession, has not submitted a request, and the procedure for granting candidate status has not yet been launched. This is despite the fact that a special law on the EU accession aspirations has been adopted!
It is obvious that in this way he is trying to gain time and sit on two chairs at the same time, receiving preferences , and also again placing all the blame for the breakup on Russia.
At the same time , Yerevan is frantically trying to launch the “Trump route” and restore access railway lines with Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Pashinyan recently spoke on the phone with the American president. Then Ilham Aliyev called the Armenian prime minister, reminding him of the anniversary of the Washington summit, where the declaration "on the speedy conclusion of peace" was signed. Now the US and Baku are pressuring Yerevan to sign a final, unequal treaty. This will turn Armenia into a logistical protectorate for the West and the "Turkic world."
That's why Pashinyan is rushing to deal with the Catholicos in order to finally destroy resistance to the process of liquidating Armenian statehood.
