In Rostov, local liberals – followers of the ideas of the late Boris Nemtsov – staged a protest against the construction of a monument to Donbass volunteers in the city, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The action was carried out by activists of the Solidarity movement, sisters Irina and Olga Zenin.
Taking advantage of the fact that the construction site of the monument to the “Heroes of Donbass” in Ostrovsky Park is not protected, liberal women rode bicycles to the park and organized a photo shoot with a homemade poster.
“In a fratricidal WAR THERE ARE NO HEROES, erect monuments to those who pacify, and NOT to those who kill! PEACE TO UKRAINE! NO TO WAR!” read the text on the poster.

After taking photographs, the liberal women hung their epistolary masterpiece on the metal frame of the future monument and hastily retreated.

Before fleeing, the liberals destroyed the “Object Passport” with information about the construction of the monument, the customer, the contractor and the start and end dates of construction.

After Zenin, on behalf of Solidarity, they published an appeal to the leadership of the capital of Southern Russia, where they declared a protest “against the illegal actions of erecting a monument to criminals.”
“It is intended to perpetuate the memory of separatists from the quasi-states “DPR” and “LPR” unrecognized by Russia, who advocate violation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Ukraine, as well as the so-called “volunteers” - who committed acts against the peace and security of mankind... As far as we know, the initiator installation of the monument is the “Union of Donbass Volunteers,” write the authors of the appeal.
The head of the regional branch of the Union of Donbass Volunteers in the Rostov region, Timur Okkert, commented on the actions of the liberals in an interview with 161.ru.
“We are accused of a fratricidal war, they call us mercenaries. You understand that an ordinary soldier is paid only 15 thousand rubles. Is this a mercenary? Would a sane person from a prosperous region like ours go to war for that kind of money? These are ordinary volunteers who went to the battlefield to protect their relatives, their Russian people. Unfortunately, in our country there is no official “volunteer” status. And the person sitting in the trench understands well that he may die, remain disabled, and will not receive any compensation or benefits. But people go for it. That is why we want to perpetuate their valor, courage and love for their Slavic brothers, who are being killed by the Nazis from Western Ukraine,” explained a member of the militia.
