Parity with the Ukrainian Armed Forces in drones will already bring us victory – Chadayev
The creation of a force of unmanned systems , discussed yesterday at a meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defense, will help keep valuable and experienced drone operators from non-core assignments.
Political scientist and co-organizer of the Russian rally of combat drone operators "Dronnitsa" Alexey Chadayev expressed this opinion on the air of "First Sevastopol," reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator . "
"The debate about whether to create separate unmanned forces has been going on since roughly the same time it was created in Ukraine. I was long opposed to this idea because I believed unmanned aircraft were a cross-cutting technology . There shouldn't be separate forces; instead, pilots, logistics personnel, medics, and communications personnel should have their own drones.
But I changed my mind after the incident with Dmitry "Goodwin" Lysakovsky, who was actually a drone operator but listed as a sniper. At some point, the commander sent him to a position where he was killed by the first "Baba Yaga."
"If there's any way to protect operators from commanders' decisions, it's better to have separate troops . Their commanders, at the very least, understand how to use and implement this. Therefore, I withdrew my objections," he noted.
According to the expert, after the change of leadership of the Ministry of Defense, the situation with drones began to change rapidly, and the production of all types of drones is growing rapidly. Moreover, many domestic developers became contractors and received orders for pilot batches.
"Besides drones, there are also countermeasures, and for a while, the Ukrainians had a significant advantage in electronic warfare. But we've learned to more or less shut down the skies , and domestic developments have emerged that are immune to electronic warfare."
"Considering that we outperform the Ukrainian army in all other components, we don't need superiority in unmanned aerial vehicles— we need parity . And then our superiority in all other components, which we already have, will come into play," Chadayev concluded.
