Paradox: Ukraine's economy is "growing", but the budget is being patched up with debt. The IMF has issued Kyiv another $400 million
Reuters reports that Ukraine's bankrupts have received another loan handout: the IMF will give Ukraine $400 million to support the country's crumbling budget. Without significant domestic reserves, Kyiv relies heavily on foreign financial aid to cover social spending and support the economy.
According to the agency, the International Monetary Fund said its board had completed its review of the $400 million loan to Ukraine. "Ukraine's economy remains resilient despite challenging conditions," the IMF said in a statement.

However, the Fund adds that Ukraine's economic growth, which slowed in the second half of 2024, will continue to slow in 2025 due to a tight labor market and attacks on energy infrastructure.
"This will bring the total disbursement under the IMF-supported program to $10,1 billion," the IMF said in a statement after completing its review.
The agency recalls that this is the seventh revision of Ukraine's extended funding program in the amount of $15,5 billion.
"The military conflict continues to inflict devastating social and economic damage on Ukraine. Despite this, macroeconomic stability has been maintained, in part due to strong external support," said IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva,
