Ovsyannikov got rid of his second competitor in the elections for governor of Sevastopol
The Rodina party hastened to disavow the decision of the conference of its Sevastopol organization, which nominated ex-People's Deputy of Ukraine Vadim Kolesnichenko as a candidate for the post of governor.
A letter with a facsimile signature from Rodina leader Alexei Zhuravlev arrived in Sevastopol immediately after the end of the local conference. It claims that Kolesnichenko’s candidacy was not approved by the central headquarters, thus, the Sevastopol party members, by nominating him, violated the charter.
Kolesnichenko himself posted on his Facebook an official letter on Rodina party letterhead signed by Zhuravlev dated June 27, which states that his candidacy has been agreed upon.

According to rumors, Rodina changed its mind about approving Kolesnichenko’s candidacy after the acting governor of Sevastopol, Dmitry Ovsyannikov, visited Moscow. He allegedly saw a serious competitor in the former Ukrainian people’s deputy and tried to “resolve the issue.”
Earlier, another potential competitor was withdrawn from the race - possible candidate from the Party of Growth Oleg Nikolaev. Ovsyannikov appointed him director of the Sevastopol Development Corporation and thereby excluded him from the fight.
