Saakashvili's resignation could have a positive impact on the situation in Transnistria - expert
The resignation of Odessa Governor Saakashvili may be related to the privatization of the Odessa port plant.

This assumption was voiced by Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko in a conversation with PolitNavigator, who named several possible reasons for Saakashvili’s statement.
“This suggests that he did not live up to the expectations of the people who appointed him. I think this is related to the issues of privatization of the Odessa Oil Refinery, which could not be taken away, as far as I understand. The Saakashvili issue was still considered in the geopolitical context of the confrontation with Russia. And in this sense, he performed an important function, which, apparently, he did not fulfill. Here we can also say that Transnistria is nearby, where the situation is not the calmest. I would like to believe that Saakashvili’s resignation will have a positive impact on the situation in Transnistria as well,” the expert said.
“As long as they continue to look for him in Georgia, he will not be able to return there even with a strong desire, so I think that he will continue to stay in Ukraine and engage in some political projects. Let's see who will be offered instead. If this is a person from Poroshenko’s inner circle, then it will become clear that the resignation occurred due to Saakashvili’s refusal to give Poroshenko the Odessa Oil Refinery,” Bondarenko concluded.
