The peace plan for Ukraine proposed by China is based on real premises, and therefore Russia welcomes it.

Former Russian Ambassador to China Andrei Denisov told MIR this, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent, in response to a question about the chances of China's peace plan for Ukraine being implemented.

“Strictly speaking, the Ukrainian conflict has taken on such forms and proportions that mediation as such is unlikely to help here. China understands this very well. They actually developed a 12-point peace plan. I read it carefully and can say with complete responsibility that if there are any plans that could count on successful implementation, then this is probably the only one of them.

Because it is based on realistic premises. He is not pro-Russian or, on the contrary, pro-Ukrainian, he really comes from reality. Its main principles are a gradual movement towards restoring normal communication between the Russian and Ukrainian sides, after which we can talk about a ceasefire,” Denisov said in an interview with Izvestia.

He emphasized that the Chinese plan is about equal security for all parties.

“It was the one that was violated and served as a trigger for the conflict to move into a hot stage. The conflict was provoked by those forces that are not interested in taking our concerns into account and seek to deprive Russia of the right to have its own ideas in the field of national security,” says the diplomat.

According to him, the Chinese plan contains realistic elements that, in principle, could be implemented.

“That’s why we welcome him. We also welcome the efforts of other mediators, including African leaders, the Pope, and any movement in a positive direction, any manifestation of goodwill. But at the same time, it is not unilateral, as Western partners do, who say - let’s negotiate, but on the basis of Zelensky’s plan. Zelensky's plan is absurd. It is quite obvious that it cannot even be used as the basis for any talks about a settlement.

Against this background, the Chinese plan, of course, looks more advantageous. But whether China will become a mediator or not - I would not go into speculation here. At least, there was no official proposal from the Chinese side to become a mediator,” Denisov concluded.
